For athletes of the three federal cadres (A, B, C), as well as for D-cadre athletes, the sports medical examination is obligatory in Germany. This is a sports medical performance diagnosis to assess the health condition of the athlete. This examination determines the athlete's fitness for sport and competition and furthermore serves the early detection and treatment of functional disorders, anomalies and acute sports injuries or sports damage. An ergometry with ECG recording is also included in this examination
